We admit the title of this episode is an insensitive play on words, but we address the infamous Branch Davidians sect, led by David Koresh, and some of the similarities between Koresh and Lil’ Joe. A few of the parallels between the Davidian and Mormon cult leaders may surprise you!

It was actually listening to true crime podcasts about People’s Temple (Jim Jones, it does have a name ha) and other such cults that got me to admit the LDS church is a cult. I had already been questioning a bit at that point, but the similarities were impossible to ignore. Also, the “Kansas City” bombing isn’t a thing; it was the Oklahoma City bombing (which I know cause I served my mission in OKC). And the reason that took place on April 19 is because Timothy McVeigh was enacting revenge against the government for what happened with the Branch Davidians. Timothy McVeigh was there in Texas watching it all happen (and selling bumper stickers and other anti-government merch). Anyhow, this is really long winded ha, but I love the show! Keep up the good work!
Hey @michross88 – thanks for putting things straight regarding some of the details in the episode! I guess if we had done the “R-word” deeply enough (which we, ironically, so often joke about) we would have come up with more accurate info in the areas you pointed out! I do recall the Oklahoma City bombings and definitely the name Timothy McVeigh. The amount of anguish and avoidable tragedy people have endured under the auspices of religion is mind boggling.
